Great Barrier Reef in February

I've heard mixed reviews about the GBR during storm season.
Anyone been there/done that?

I've been on liveaboard many times during the cyclone season and ... unless there is a cyclone, its an awesome time to go. The water is at its warmest too !

So ... just go !

I went on the Taka II a few years ago in late January and it was great! It's like going anywhere during any hemisphere's "storm" season - the chances that you'll have good weather are far greater than the likelihood of getting caught in a storm, but it is a roll of the dice. The only problem I experienced was not on the GBR itself, but the crossing to the Coral Sea - it was a rough night. But the diving made it all worthwhile. Vis was not spectacular, but not bad either. Like the others said - JUST GO!!
