I have always dreamed of seeing a GWS underwater and have been looking into charters to Guadalupe. Problem is 6 day trip, which is actually 3 days in a cage is not really my kind of dive trip. Seeing a couple of GWS, fantastic! Three days of it, meh.
I would much rather see Mantas, Whale Sharks and Hammerheads for multiple days. Is there any way of getting the shorter trip to Guadalupe or any other GWS locale then head to Socorro Island for the other "big" stuff?

Anyone have any thoughts on this. I have done numerous trips top the other side of Mexico this will be my first west coast adventure.

I think the issue is that it takes about 20 hours to get to Guadalupe. There are 1 day trips to the Farrallon Islands off San Francisco.
I just got back from a trip the Guadalupe on the Nautilus Belle Amie. Like you I was a bit concerned about a 5 day trip with 3 days doing the same thing, but each dive was different and I definitely left thinking I could've done another day. I did (16) 45 minute dives and would've felt short changed if I'd only gotten a few dives in.
Years ago I went on a one day GWS off Gaansbai, South Africa. 10 hours and never saw a single shark, and never even got suited up. While I would've agreed on your initial assessment of 3 days being meh, after having done those 3 days I'm of a completely different mind set, and wish the trip had been a bit longer.
