Hi All,

This is my first posting, in fact I think it is my first posting on a message board since the old BBS days.

I live and work in Bangkok Thailand. My real job is in computers but I am also a part time diver and have my PADI Tec-Rec Instructor rating. I get to hang around with some very talented divers with thousands of dives and hundreds of Trimix dives which makes me feel like the baby of the group.

If anyone wants to know about diving in Thailand you can drop me a line.

Cheers,
James.

Me and the wife are planning a short vacation in Thailand before i do a Tesol course in Ban Phe. We'll be going for the month of August and are looking at Koh Samui for the first week in August. Any suggestions for a good dive-site ? We won't have enough money for continuous diving so will have to make the best of one or two trips ...the rest of the time snorkeling will have to do.

Thanx in advance .....
Andre'

HI,

The diving around Ko Samui itself is not that good. The closest and best dive is Shark Rock but that is a bit of a boat trip. Ko Samui itself has been overdeveloped and it is mostly the Thais that go there now.

If you are going for primarily rest and relaxation rather than diving then it will probably be OK. If you are wanting to do a lot fo diving then I suggest you change your destination to Ko Tao. There are more dive locations there and a resort experience for just about any price level.

If you are interested I can get a couple of contacts for you.
