If you are staying in the Bang Tao / Cherengtalay area of Phuket and looking to go diving, the dive shop H2O is located in Cherengtalay, (at the back of Bang Tao beach) and services Sai Taan Villas, Laguna Beach, Best Western Allemanda, Banyan Tree, Sheraton, Dusit resorts etc.
The dive shop has fantastic speedboats, new and well maintained kit and offers diving in very small groups. Their Thai dive masters are fun and friendly and very helpful. They have instructors who speak various languages and they offer a full range of courses.
They have great pick up times. For dives at Shark Point etc, they leave at around 11 am, returning at 5 ish. The earliest they ever seem to leave is around 9 am for Phi Phi. Their boats are based in the Phuket Marina, rather than in Ao Chalong, which makes the transfer times much shorter and the boats are pretty fast. H2O always picks up at the precise time arranged and drops you back to your villa / hotel.
The prices may be slightly more than you may see with some other companies, but they include all transfers etc. The bit extra is worth it for the boats and the fact that you wont be diving in big groups. If you intend to do several dives they will allow you to leave a credit card imprint with them and settle up at the end of your holiday and they will also give a discount when you do more dives. They also make sure they arrange trips so that you get to see lots of different dive sites - and will even put on some other trips for you.
H2O offers local dives at Koh Weao and the tin mining wreck just off Bang Tao beach. It is only have a 5 minute boat trip, as they have another speedboat based at the pier at the end of the beach. These are not adventurous dives, but there is a huge abundance of fish. You can see octopus, cuttlefish, turtles, amazing corals and huge shoals of fish. They are very enjoyable dives if you just want to get underwater but not spend all day on a boat.
