What's your opinion on the Halcyon MC System Storage Pak? Is it useful and easy to access?

Also, if you don't have/use an Storage Pak and dive in a wetsuit, where do you keep accessories and what accessories do you use?

It’s useful for keeping a large SMB or lift bag that won’t fit comfortably in your pockets—IMHO, it’s a better than hanging stuff off the back of your bp. OMS and ScubaL also make similar storage packs to the Halcyon.

I use X-shorts http://www.dive-xtras.com/index2.html —I keep a small CC SMB attached to a spool, wetnotes, some spare double enders and a spare mask in my pockets.

When diving in my dry suit I don't use the storage pack, I use my pockets. However, when diving wet I store my SMB in it. I have no real alternative since I don't use X-shorts and I don't want stuff dangling arond.

MC storage bag is only for the lift bag. It doesn't provide a secure and enough space for other accessory. I am using DR thigh bag or DR two zipper mesh bag when I need to carry some stuff.

X-short is also very convenient option. It has two huge pockets each side.

I find the usefulness of the pak pretty limited.

I have yet to find a DSMB that fits well in the pack...either the inflator dealy-do or the opv pokes into the back...even if folded appropriately and placed with care to avoid placement over the bolts. I guess it works O.K. if you leave a tail out...but I don't like that very much.

All in all, I'd rather use pockets.

But it does make your plate look a little softer to the folks ogling your gear...and it covers up the bolts giving a little added drysuit protection!

I have one on one of my plates...but all my other rigs are "bareback".

Here is a link to a series on how I stow a Halcyon closed circuit 80# bag. If they would turn that inflator 90 degrees life would be much easier!

Oops! I guess I took that page down.

O.K. Try this...

Turned around and eBayed mine moments after it arrived on my eBayed BP/W rig.

Me too. However, they keep the bolts/wingnuts from ripping holes in my t-shirts when lugging doubles from the truck to my garage.

I've got one on my plate... don't know why - it's never been used, collects sand and hides that purdy shiny finish of the plate that attracts the barracuda so I can get a good look see at em' ... maybe it's time to get rid of it.

btw - I store "stuff" in my wetsuit pockets...

The Halcyon SMB folds up perfectly to store in this space. It pads some if that is important. The end clips to the left D-ring and is easy to access.

Halcyon 3.3' SMB in my pocket, and a 50# lift bag in the MC pouch on my doubles plate. I want a bigger bag when diving the steel doubles and it fits perfectly between me and the plate (too big for a pocket and I prefer having it in the pouch than bungeed under the plate).
