I just got back from a few weeks in Halifax (work-related). Here's a link to my dives:http://victoriadiving.awardspace.com/halifax.html

No. Despite the stiff penalties, poaching seems to be common over there, but it doesn't seem worth it to me. I guess photos last longer and are less messy.DivetheRock:Wicked pics!
Now, on a different note, did any of those lobsters accidentally end up in your belly, by any chance??? ;-)
Really? I've always felt that if you took a lobster, some fisherman would cut off your hoohoo. Never met any poachers.swankenstein:No. Despite the stiff penalties, poaching seems to be common over there, but it doesn't seem worth it to me. I guess photos last longer and are less messy.
swankenstein:I was actually suprised how common lobsters are. I always assumed they were rare, or almost fished out, but in some places (Birchy Head, for example) they were spaced a couple feet apart in every hole. As for the poaching, I found it was common to hear of divers talking about getting together in groups and going for lobster like it was just a social thing to do. Over here, anything like that would be a "go by yourself in the middle of the night, and definitely don't talk about it" kind of thing.
