Hi Docs-
So I just returned from a visit to the local medical clinic to get some drops for what I thought was a moderate ear infection, which I can only presume came from my diving activities a few days prior.
Here's the story, did three days of cave diving in FL, ending on Tuesday. First sign of pain on Sat. in the right ear. Sunday, quite a bit of pain in the right ear, slight pain in the left ear. Monday, right ear feels also perfect (very slight pain if you push on it), left ear in quite a bit of pain, and had a discharge of a bloody fluid during the night.
So the Doc takes a look and says my ear drum and areas beyond look great, but there are large bumps in both ears, a black bump in the right ear, and a red on in the left. The doc is calling the Hematomas.
I've never heard of a hematoma in the ear canal from diving, nor could I find any info on this. Thinking a visit to the ENT may be in order in the near future, but was curious if this has been seen often and how it's caused by (and would effect) diving.
