How does the ditching system work on these pockets?

HOG 5lb Drop Weight Pockets Small Pair

Is it velcro? Two sides or one? Something else? I haven't been able to find any pictures of the pockets with the ditching having been activated nor any description of it...

Where the red loop is attached there is Velcro and when you grab the loop and pull down the weights fall from the pocket. I've got the 10lbs versions on my Hog bpw.

I've got the 10lb version on my other harness. Just pull the red loop. Weights come out easily.

Thanks! That's what I was guessing. Any concerns about the Velcro failing and dropping weights accidentally?

No it holds well. I usually have about 6lbs in mine as well as a handful of other things. Just make sure the Velcro is in place and the edges are tucked in place.

Don't use the velcro end to add the weights. Use the zipper on top.

The belt loops on the back are large enough for a (I believe) 2” webbing. Depending on where they are sitting on your belt, and what they are next to, you may need a keeper buckle.

I use the 10# version. When I’m cold water diving they are used for weights whereas for warm water I have rigged them as pockets with lines to bolt snap items onto. I dive a Litehawk which does not have much for pockets.

I got mine from Pirahna Dive. The 10#s run 19.95 each ($40 for a pair).

I have the smaller version and they fit over 2" webbing, I have mine slid all the way back to the plate and keep them there with a plastic DGX belt slide.
