Welcome to my world. They are established in waters from NC to Canaveral from 80' to 200' and I have seen 50 on one wreck and see several almost every dive.

I'd love to see some funds spent on regulating invasive species instead of what the NMFS currently does. They will probly do a few more decades of study and then blame fishermen for not targeting them.

I had an interesting experience, yesterday. I shot a good-sized lionfish and a spotted eel immediately grabbed it and took it under the ledge. We have been killing a lot of lionfish and know that the various reef fishes will eat the bits and pieces, but this was my first experience with an eel taking the whole fish. The scene was a bit surreal but exciting to watch.

Sounds like you have an educated eel there! Whoo hoo!!

There's one surefire way to get rid of these things: Put a $$$ bounty on them. $5 a dead fish, they'd be gone in no time :)
