I spent some big bucks buying the California Diving company's hard case, which has a built-in tank rank. I love it...then saw something very similar at Home Depot for $60! I bought one to lug all my coaching supplies around in, and have noticed that it's every bit as rugged for about a quarter the cost. It has an extendable handle, and the wheels actually roll easier. The California Diving company sells a kit that you can buy to convert the small wheels to larger, easier rolling ones, but it costs $50!

If I had it to do all over again, I'd buy the Stanley wheeled tool case from Home Depot, cutting a large hole in the lid just over the wheels to accomodate a tank (or two, which the one from CA Diving company doesn't!).

I know what you are talking about. But, one big concern is that the box is really huge to put into an ordinary car except SUV or Truck. Even, it doesn't fit to the back seat due to its height.

I've bought several of these from HomeDepot to transport equipment for work to/from Mexico. They work great, except the wheels have a tendency to fall off...you can still drag them, though.

A friend of mine got the box at H.D. & instead of cutting a hole in it he put a piece of alunimun L shaped metal at the opposite end of the box from the handle. Then lays the tanks on top & bungees them down.

We just got a Sterilite 44 gallon tote locker (http://www.sterilite.com/Category.html?Section=Storage&ProductCategory=34) from Target for $20. It won't hold the tanks, but it'll hold just about everything else while keeping the back of our cars dry from the gear. We're hoping it'll help out with local diving and make getting stuff to/from our cars a lot easier (we live in a condo on 2nd floor).

Oh, and we each have pretty small hatch-back cars. No problem fitting in there! :)
