Hello fellow divers

I am playing around with windows moviemaker and intergrating short movie cuts from my IXUS camera... I wondered if anyone knew about some kind of software who could import the clips and "auto level" the colors in it.... just like we do with photos in photoshop...?

any ideas anyone?

it would be greatly appriciated :)

You can use virtualdub to process all your clips prior to editing. Here are a few plugins which will help, along with some recommended settings (not necessarily the best setup, but decent enough):

* deshaker: fantastic plugin to stabilize the image; hard to believe until you try it
settings: use previous and future frames to fill in borders

* msu denoiser 2.5: might help removing some noise due low light conditions
settings: automatic (default)

* autolevels: I believe that's what you were looking for; pretty good at bringing some colours back in shallow water
settings: intensity 1, rgb based

* msu color enhancement: an alternative to the above; can also be used in conjunction with it
settings: color enhancement preset
