How to Fix BC Seam due to Annoying Wetsuit Velcro Contact?

What is the best way to fix a BC seam becoming a bit fuzzy due to a Wetsuit Velcro getting sticked to that area?

My BC is 20 years old and it looks like new (Scubapro Classic), and I would like to get this 'fixed'. Nothing wrong with performance, but it is annoying.

Thought about a bit of flame, but worried about damaging the BC.

I think I'm switching to velcroless wetsuits.

I would very carefully take a lighter to it as long as it's not going to burn the stitching.
