I’ve noticed that inside some HP hose fittings there is a hollow cylinder with o-rings on each end that goes inside the fitting. What is this part called and where can I get one for my save a dive kit?

Thanks,
Mike

Stone,

Thanks for the info. As soon as I read swivel in your post the light bulb came on. I saw one when changing the SPG hose on my pony to a shorter one. At the time I thought to my self, “self, if you loose this little part and don’t have a spare, you will be in deep s***!”

After your first post everything was great, I learned something and I had a plan of action; go to my LDS and ask for a swivel for a high pressure hose fitting, like I knew what I was talking about. But now you went and posted a picture of three different versions! How do I know which is correct? FYI, I have a Suunto computer and SPG, one would hope that they both use the same part.

Thanks,
Mike

Yes, one would hope they use the same spindle (swivel).

When I bought my replacement/spare spindles (like the first one in the picture), my LDS said the straight spindle (like the second and third ones in the picture) were "universal". I did not test this comment, and bought only spindles that were identical to the spindles I already had.

Maybe your LDS can confirm or deny.

Usually it's referred to as a "spool", or a "high pressure swivel spool" if you really want to be clear.

Easiest way to tell which yours uses is to pull it apart and look. I wouldn't bet on an computer and SPG from the same company having the same spools - most gear companies are buying one or the other or both from different suppliers.

While you're in there, check for leakage (green corrosion is the giveaway) and relube the O-rings. Spools get overlooked a lot during overhauls, in fact their condition makes a good tattletail to let you know how well your shop is doing its job.
