Cave diver

I am a cave dive and I dive in holes that are out of sight.
Hoping and praying that at the end of the day I may see its might.
Dropping my head below the cold crisp water
I know I shall come back home to see my daughter.

I feel the cave calling out my name; I know I am not insane
It feels as if it knows I have come back again.
My fear is not of the external darkness
But of the myth that always haunts us.

Of the winding tunnel that shall test my sharpness.
It calls me deeper into its darkness
As my eyes adjust to the night, my light becomes my eyes of sight
I hope my map of knowledge is not out of date tonight.

The beam makes the walls around me come alive
To my delight I am comfortable with my dive.
I feel the cave swallow me in deeper and deeper
As I know it may get steeper and creepier.

In time of need that line in darkness is my comfort to the light
It is my calmness that brings out my courage of might.
Upon coming back to the opening
The cave taunts me with another tunnel sloping
My heartbeat skips another beat hoping
I know I get to dive another day
I thank God for the knowledge I betrayed today
As I am a cave diver to stay.
