If you know how much weight you need, don't let the divemaster tell you how much weight you should carry. That's your call, not his. If he disagrees, you can squash him like a bug.
 
id have to agree with most post. my buddy from my c class was the same build and had to use 36 lbs in a 7mm and fyi if u go dry suit you WILL need more but i dive both wet and dry and i must say after getting use to the dry suit its a whole new exp. "a dry diver is a warm diver and a warm diver uses less air"
