As we celebrate the independence of our nation, we also celebrate the life of Mrs. Dockery. A mother, a grandmother and a dedicated wife to Mr. Denzel Dockery, Mrs Ruth was a kind and strong women.

Mrs. Ruth Evelyn Carlson Dockery, age 81, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013. She was born Nov. 5, 1931 in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Roy Carlson and Evelyn Huffman Carlson. Mrs. Dockery was a resident of Port Charlotte and Ponce De Leon.

She and her husband created the Red and White Diver Down Flag for the safety of divers. Saving the lives of many divers around the world. She and her husband developed the Vortex Spring Diving Resort in the early 1970's in Ponce De Leon, FL. In the 1960's they had developed the Diatom Filter® for water filtration which became an aquarium industry standard. They also invented the Numatic Yokes used in the diving industry, and the Preset Piston Regulators.

With this many achievements in a life, she will be most missed as the great women and friend she was to those closest to her. She will always remain in our hearts. Rest in peace Mrs. Ruth Evelyn Dockery.
