For those of you, who have never worked on the Poseidon Cyklon second stage, there was always an odd step, during reassembly, where the "valve piston" and its spring are inserted, within the LP valve housing and compressed, typically on a drift, while an o-ring remover, etc, was inserted through an opening at the business end, to hold its compressed state (see illustration below); whereupon, the the valve seat was then installed, followed by the hinged "operating device."
I was recently given a 15 gram tool, to try, which not only dispenses with bulkier drift and its base, at a fraction of its weight; but also simplifies assembly; and makes the piston tip far simpler to quickly align, for the "operating device" installation (there's got to be a better name for that damn thing), without it having to be "impaled" and / or balanced on the drift.
It is a simple, threaded length of brass that is inserted in the LP valve, in the same manner as one would the valve seat -- a very simple solution, especially convenient for a compact travel kit, which I have always sought to reduce in size and weight, over the years -- something that Poseidon with its 1.4 kilo assembly tool / walnut cracker, had continually attempted to thwart, until recently . . .
