The problem, especially in remote locations, is you usually don't have the gas required to complete the required decompression. Things always seem possible on paper but reality is a whole different animal. To properly conduct decompression you keep precise depths with a precise ascent rate. Wave action, tide changes, rain, wind, moon cycles would all have a negative impact. Then add in heat loss and dehydration. You would be better off transporting than wasting time attempting to do something that will probably just make the problem worse. In IMO there is zero use for anyone to attempt this process in water. My 2 cents.
