I just got the Z-240 to use with my point and shoot and was wondering how much I need to worry about flooding from the sync connector o-ring. If I'm not planning on using a sync cord until I upgrade to a DSLR (if ever), do I really need to check and lube the o-ring before every dive? How tight should I screw the cap down? Should I loosen the cap before flying with it like the battery cap?

No, not necessary to check and re-grease everytime. There is no official recommendation on this, but I'd say take a look at it every 20 dives or so, maybe more often if you are doing a lot of shore diving / entries with a lot of sand.

Not necessary to screw cap down really tight. Just until it reaches the end of the threads and is seated snugly.

No, not necesssary to loosen cap before flying, if battery cap is loosened.
