Not trying to be stupid but what is NASE and where would I find information about your organization?

That's just it, There is not a lot of info on your site. Standards? Class lengths? Etc.

Agreed - website is lacking substance.

Nothing on it that would provide me any inclination to crossover - or choose to do a diver level course.

And the price of the crossover just makes me downright suspicious.

All good points, we have listed more details on our diver level courses including OW requirements. We have been hesitant to push a bunch of stuff on to the site as we are reviewing everything for accuracy, and revisions take some time to get out to members. Our focus and background is in commercial diving and are using similar approach to diver training (e.g. minutes bottom time versus numbers of dives and a well defined competency standard).

As far as publishing our standards on the site, again were growing the site since its launch last month. You will see how we are different and our training philosophy will be made clear.

NASE Worldwide has been silent in the U.S. for the last decade, we have a lot of work ahead of us. The DEMA event is to let people know we exist, and yes just putting a price looks a little ..odd.

We have not yet really started to push crossovers that is why the website does not have a lot on it yet - it will soon.

Nevertheless we are a real organization located in Jacksonville, FL. run by active divers. (I personally have been full time in the diving industry since 1992 and we all share the same passion for diving).

Thanks for your post!

Scott Evans,
Executive Director
NASE Worldwide

There are a number of NASE Instructors here on MAUI, and at least one Course Director. The resort diving cliental is key to the popularity of NASE Standards.

At $100, crossover is attractive, depending on the new Standards. How much for annual renewal? How much for mid Pacific "remote" crossover?

I am currently looking at going to dive school in which i would attain the NASE instructor certification. As i am not familiar with NASE (I've been PADI for close to 15 years) i am full of questions as to the viability of the certification, how the certification would convert to PADI, etc....any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

EJ - The instructor course your are taking will offer the NASE OWSI certification. Once a NASE instructor what can you do with it?

First the viability - Yes, NASE is a real certification and you can begin to train and certify divers. What it also enables you to do, carry Professional Liability Insurance. The certification is recognized worldwide and although NASE is by no means the largest organization, it is the only organization that offers training in recreational and professional (Commercial Scuba) areas.

Second - Will PADI recognize it? NASE student certification does satisfy prerequisites for PADI courses. You can not cross over to PADI from NASE, or any other agency for matter. PADI will require other agency instructors to attend part an IE.

Please check out our site, the about us will describe our goals as a training agency. In addition, please feel free to call the school to discuss the program.
