I missed the smiley (unless a banana indicates the same thing) on your first question, so I'll take you seriously...

Everything displayed on the screen has to be transmitted to the screen in the form of bytes. To display the forum listing on the home page probably takes a hundred or so extra bytes. Multiply that out by each time that page is displayed (1000's), and you have considerable traffic generated. Then add in the traffic of people going into the forum hoping to have a discussion.

And, the fact that it's now mid-May is exactly why I asked about an older April Fool's joke.

No big deal, I just figured the joke may have been "forgotten".
