Tomorrow, August 24th, is the 35th anniversary of my arrival at Arrow Point on Santa Catalina Island aboard the dive boat "Golden Doubloon." It is a day I celebrate each year as my "re-birth" day, for it was after I arrived on Catalina that my life and goals really started to come into focus.
So I thought it was appropriate to celebrate the day with something both appropriate and special. As many of you know, I never logged my dives from 1961 until June 30, 2000. Tomorrow I will dive logged dives #999 and 1,000 in Catalina's Casino Point Dive Park (since 2000).
I'm inviting all SB members to join me in the park about 1:30 (have to attend a funeral first). Pay careful attention. Female single divers should meet me at the 5-fathom contour, and male single divers should wait for me at the 50-fathom contour.
Afterwards, any of us that survive will be treated to the only dish I can cook and still retain friends... my infamous Thai green curry with shrimp and broccoli. After a few libations (sake, ouzo and fine Scotch all welcome although I won't refuse a good red wine or non-domestic beer), we will all go to the world famous Avalon Theatre in the Casino building to watch the "Bourne Supremacy" before returning to my humble castle and partying our hearts out (no diving the next day).
Look forward to seeing you all there... at least in spirit (or is it spirits?)!
