Congratulations to Louis Lopez Ramirez, Andreas Kaufmann, and staff of http://www.allwestcuracao.com/ as well as http://www.oceanencounterswest.com/ for the outstanding review article about your apartments, dive shop, and shore dives in the west end of Curacao in the latest issue of undercurrent, June, 2008, Vol. 23, No. 6!
When he is not in his outdoor office diving, Andreas can often be found in his indoor one:
I was fortunate to be able to tour All West Apartments and Diving in April, and I posted some photos here: http://honeymoon2.smugmug.com/gallery/4706483_Noe6q#278276779_hLbTi
The author raves about the shore diving in the west end of Curacao, and he dove every day at Playa Piscado, the reef directly in front of All West:
A short walk down these stairs takes you from your apartment directly to the beach:
The author named one of the seahorses at Piscado "Seabisquit," and saw him on every dive:
On previous trips to Curacao, the author did boat dives with Ocean Encounters West, but did shore dives exclusively on this trip, and also describes dives at Playa Kalki, Porto Marie, Playa Lagun and Tugboat east of Willemstad.
The author cooked a number of meals in his All West Apartment kitchen, or its beachfront barbeque grill, and he also enjoyed excellent meals at David and Sunshine Livingston's "Sol Food" at Curacao Sunshine Getaway, open Fri - Sun http://www.curacaosunshine.com/pages/sol_food.htm
And Jaanchies, specializing in local Papamiento dishes http://www.thefoodgallery.com/jaanchies/jaanchies.htm
And Lodge Kura Hulanda http://www.kurahulanda.com/
During surface intervals, the author enjoyed hiking and bird watching in the hills of Christoffel Park http://www.carmabi.org/
The author notes that "Curacao diving is similar to next door neighbor Bonaire, with easy shore access and abundance of marine life," but he keeps returning to Curacao "because it also boasts beaches in small, secluded inlets" that "offer better exits compared to Bonaire's many rocky, slippery sites."
The beauty of Curacao's beaches certainly caught my attention when I did 25 dives there in April. There are excellent shore dives at every one of these beaches, and many of them also have dive shops where you can rent tanks. In addition, there are restaurants at many of the beaches, making them comfortable places for surface intervals.
Playa Kalki, the next beach west of Piscado, is the location of OE West dive shop and their excellent shore dive site, "Alice In Wonderland:"
Playa Forti, just east of Piscado:
And further east, Grote Knip (Playa Abou):
Kleine Knip (Playa Kenepa):
Playa Jeremi:
Play Lagun:
Playa Cas Abou:
Porto Marie:
Congratulations, again, Louis, Andreas, and the rest of your outstanding staff at All West Apartments and Diving and Ocean Encounters West!
Sincerely, alashas http://honeymoon2.smugmug.com/
