In a thread where I was asking for information - a few people asked me to update them on the temps, conditions, etc.

11/28 - 12/1

We did 14 dives over the trip. We missed an entire day due to weather and sat at the dock. The trip was Windy and we never made our main destination - but we did have a great trip hanging closer to land. We hit the Vandenberg, Pelican reef, a few deeper reefs, and a lot of close to shore dives for lobster.

Water temps were 78-80 at 40 ft, 60 ft, and 110 feet. No real change and no real thermocline except for in the harbor. We had 4 divers who wore anything from a 2 piece 3 mil, 1 piece 3 mil, and even a 2 piece 5 mil. No one was cold at all - even on the days that the surface was a little colder, and chillier.

Luckily our group is "salty" or we would have had a lot of sea sick people. The entire trip was windy. Boat rocked - but we didnt fly all the way to Key West just to sit at the dock from some wind!!!!

Vis on the Vandenberg was 50-70 ft. Reef vis was anywhere from 10-20 ft, regardless of depth. We hit some at 40 ft and some at 110 - vis was the same everywhere. We were there during several straight days of wind - so - we vis was probably worse for us than most should expect.

I do love Key West.........

4 miles from the dock the y-knot uses...

Exactly right.

We were admiring your boat on the way out and back each day - Looks like a very nice set-up!!!
Thanks. She does a good job with what we ask her to do, but we're not for everyone, for a number of reasons. Still, it's a great trip if you want to see Florida reefs the way they were 50 years ago. No comparison between Dry Tortugas and the rest of the keys.
