These are the pics I took of the Dark green water in the Kowligia Bridge area of Lake Martin on 30 March; when me and the wife dove there for the first time; the water was pretty; it was interesting to really get to the "see" the dark green water of the thermocline area when the water dropped to about 56 degree, at around 28-30 feet. After 10-12 feet of that, right back up to around 62 degrees and crystal clear water...very bizarre. Lots of really big old tree stumps down there that look hand sawn, I guess from when they cleared the land to form the lake? We saw one that was about 42" across and perfectly preserved in the cold water as if lumberjacks went through a couple weeks ago. Look forward to doing more diving up in the Lake Martin area....even if it means driving a bit more.

Not much boat traffic, although there was a fishing contest weigh in going on at the public boat ramp right as we arrived and were assembling gear.

My father had a summer job during the construction of Martin Dam where he was on a crew cutting the trees. The water began rising faster than they were clearing land so they had to cut the trees and chain the logs to the stumps. I have heard that some of those trees are now being recovered for specialty lumber.
