After reading this post, I checked out Wikipedias entry on Lampreys, and it says:

"On the other hand, lampreys have become a major plague in the North American Great Lakes after artificial canals allowed their entry during the early 20th century. They are considered an invasive species, have no natural enemies in the lakes and prey on many species of commercial value, such as lake trout (they are also known to attack human swimmers)."

So...anyone been attacked by a killer lamprey while diving?

Rob

i've personally never been attacked, but i know some people that have gotten holes in their drysuits.

Is that blood on one of the lampreys? Human blood? How do you kill them?

Dive knife or EMT shears work nicely ... chop, chop, into julienne lamprey ....

Do they swim pretty quick? You actually have time to intercept them underwater? Or do you kill them after you feel them grab on...

You make them listen to National Public radio and they drown in the B S .

Or I could put on some Rush Limbaugh and watch them tie themselves up in knots trying to follow his twisted logic....
