DIVE AHOLICS!!

The "Pearl River Divers" - a very fun group of keen divers is going to Milne Bay in Papua New Guinea on 4/29-5/7. We are now offering a huge discount rate so that we can fill our boat , we just have a few spots left.....this is a very good deal!!!

THE DIVING LOCATION:
"Sunken Barrier Reef" from Moresby-Alotau. This trip sails out of Port Moresby and hugs the southern coast to Alotau in the Milne Bay region. The diving is expected to be superb!!
The variety in the area is exceptional! Dennis has dived in this area before and absolutely loved it. It has huge schools of fish, tons of sharks, mantas (at cleaning stations), a good variety of pelagics and macro, as well as wrecks. Visibility is 150-200 feet and the diving is great! We end up for the last 2 days in Milne Bay, which is macro heaven and also has excellent cleaning stations for pelagics.

Some highlights beyond shards are a Manta cleaning station at a site called "giants @ home". Anyone seen a Mimic Octopus? Very cool and very rare. Also a very rare celebrity is the Rhinopious or Lacy Scorpionfish, almost exclusively found in PNG and found very often in the area we will dive. The macro variety matches or exceeds Indonisia (remember Lembeh Straits in Manado!)

THE BOAT:
The boat in the MV Moonlighting II. You can check it out at www.blueseacharters.com. In this site hit the "about us" tab and you can see some pictures and cabin layouts. Very nice!

40% DISCOUNTED RATE!!
We are offering our last spots on that boats at a discounted rate of US$1200 per person for the 7-day/night trip. Costs do not include pre/post hotels, flights, alcohol/soft drinks, or personal expenses. It does include diving, weights/belts, boat accomodation, superb meals and snacks and guides (the boat owner himself might join us) -- the usual.

LOGISTICS:
a) TRIP DATES: April 29th morning (board) - May 6th morning (check out). Diving is expected to be almost 7 days (April 29-May 5th). May 6th is "off-gas" day in Alotau. The Boat will leave Port Moresby on April 29th (9:00 am).

b) ARRIVING: Please be in POM no later than 9:00 am on April 29 (boat will leave without you....) The direct Singapore airlines flight to POM gets in at 530 AM on April 29th. The boat has agreed to "pick you up" directly from the airport and put you on the boat, and then circle round to Loloata to pick up those who are arriving early. Pretty convenient. We dive as soon as you can change into dive gear.

Flights to PNG are usually through Australia or Singapore. Your Destination and entry-point is Port Moresby (POM). You will require a VISA. This might be able to be done "on arrival" for some nationalities (it used to, although may have changed), but it does involve standing in line for 45 minutes (like Manado). Alternatively, you can get it from a PNG Embassy before hand, and sail thru immigration (there are 2 different lines). Please check VISA requirements based on your citizenship. I am not familiar with the latest rules. Have about US$40-50 handy in cash (for the VISA fee). Ideally convert it to Kina (local currency) ahead of time. Last time I waited 20 minutes for the bloody bank to open. I would strongly advise you to come in a few days early if you can (in case of flight delays, etc). Even so, you may want to get in some extra diving, considering you have come so far. The resort near moresby (details below) has some of the best macro diving in the world..

c) DEPARTURE: Plan to Fly out no earlier than the 7th of May from POM. The boat will dock in Alotau on the 5th evening. You can conceivably fly back to POM from Alotau (GUR) on the last flight (430pm), on the 6th, still giving you sufficient time to off-gas (your call). International flights out of POM should be no earlier than 7th morning.

Have sent you a private message too. VERY interested in this trip.

For two people (me and my husband)

Do you still have spots available?

my email address is jowatson@mail.com

Cheers

Just a note, for anyone coming into POM a day early the Airways hotel (next to airport) is VERY good and reasonable
