I had to sit out of the water for six weeks while a hole in my sinus healed. In the meantime I played Divemaster for Merry and Kevin. Six weeks is the longest time Merry has gone without setting up her own gear as well. :)
I finally got back in the water yesterday and had good conditions with twenty feet plus visibility. The warm water we've experienced during September and October may have something to do with the disappearance of nudibranchs. I only found one during the first dive and none on the second. I tried to go out again today but the surface water was brown and we couldn't see down the anchor rode so we pulled anchor and went home with our fins between our legs.

A hole in your sinus?!! Please explain. TIA

I had some dental work done. A couple of my teeth had curved roots that dug into my sinus. After bone grafts and sutures it took six weeks to heal. I couldn't dive, use a straw, blow my nose or play wind instruments. I not only had to stop diving, I gave up a promising career as a rock tuba player. :)

Only six weeks? You're lucky! I have had a rotator cuff surgery followed by cataract surgery in both eyes. I haven't been in the water since Aug. 1 and won't be able to get back into the water till mid November. However, when I do get back in the water, I won't need the mask with the lenses in it!!!

Only 6 weeks you did good. In 2005 my wife had oral surgery for where the bone deteriorated from her front tooth that was knocked out as a kid and she needed the bone built up for an implant. After several bone graft surgeries many months apart, it wasn't working, she consulted several top specialists around the country and was ready to give up until she found someone who said they could fix it. He took out everything the previous oral surgeon had done, started again from scratch, and now my wife is very happy everything turned out perfect. The whole rigamarole took over two years, which meant no diving that whole time

Welcome back to the REAL world, Phil!
