I'd check out Craigslist in your area. I picked up 2 5lbs, 2 3lbs, and 2 1lbs for $20.
Good idea, I have checked a few times lately but haven't had any luck. I am thinking of buying 25# of lead shot and making my own weight packs.

That tells me what you think is too much - not what you think is reasonable.
 
I know a guy that did that. Used window screens as a means of packing them. Worked out great! I tried to buy them from him but he wasn't selling. Just gotta know how to sew and you'd be set.

Sewing isn't a problem, just need to get some shot. It looks like the best way to go so far. I found a good mesh fabric at my local Hancocks.
