Have you tried emailing all the dive operators you an find on the net?

Tutukaka probably has the biggest collection of dive operators in NZ but there are many more scattered around the country. You may want to consider getting a second job to to help pay for your first one though. From what I can see DMing does not a rich man make.

At all. If you are an instructor you may get work in Tutukaka as a Dm. If you are Padi then check out the PADI jobs section in Padi's Dive Pro site, or email every dive shop in NZ and ask if they need workers.
Splash Gordon in Wellington usually hire people over the summer Try them at Splash Gordon - Scuba Diving Specialists in Wellington, New Zealand

Thanks for the responses to my post and i will get onto the suggestions other than doing the padi writing to everyone as i have already done that once...but i suppose doing it again won't hurt...

Thanks again!!!

What's your immigration status? Unless you have a valid visa, to be honest you're screwed. The process of supporting someone through a visa application is too long and too costly for most, if not all, of the dive charters/shops.

Visa options, assuming you're not NZer or Australian are resident, working and 'working holiday'. The chances of getting the first two for a dive job are as rare as rocking horse *****, and you can only apply for the WHV if you are under 30.

Sorry to be negative, but this is the reality of trying to get work here. I know most of the immigration rules back to front and inside out if you need any advice.

Might be a bit late to response.

I can't say for sure how it works in NZ but in OZ you're not allowed to work unless you have a working holiday visa, so if you're over 30 you'll have a hard time.

When it comes to job avalibility in Oz I can say it's easy to score jobs as DM - but don't expect to live like a king. Hostel and pasta is the key if you want to be in the water all the time and not having to get a second job..
That's how I did it in Oz atleast.
Will be heading over to NZ in august looking for work so we'll see how it goes :)

If you managed to get a job, can you post some info about it?

Best of luck with it! Are you looking in the dive industry??

August is a good time to do the rounds and put some legwork in before summer, but it's not a time when the larger dive shops or charter companies will be actively recruiting.

Yeah, would be awesome getting a DM job. Not expecting to get paid, just want to be in the water as much as possible :)
