"Has a diver decided to take more risk than the average person? Sure, but"
The "but" says it all. If you assume that divers are going to be folks who pay more attention to detail, or have some other positive skill set, then it should be possible to find folks with that same attention to detail--who don't take on the inherent risks of SCUBA.
Old saying, that the best cure for seasickness is to go hug a tree. And of course, boats are safest in harbor, but that's not what boats are built for.
Either way, if you find out that a prospective employer thinks along lines that you disagree with? That's a good thing, it means you wouldn't have been happy there anyway. Whether they are right or wrong, that's irrelevant, unless you figure it as a learning moment, and you're willing to drink the corporate Kool-aide in the theory that it will help you grow into a better person.
