Other things to do:
A day trip to the Garden of the Groves.
A trip to the Caves and Gold Rock Beach.
Casino
Count Bassie Square on the weekend evenings.
Check out the many good restaurants.
Dive, Dive, Dive!!!
Don't even bother checking out the International Bazaar area. Last time we were there it wasn't worth the trip.

I Agree with the above sites to see,But "The Garden of The Groves" Is closed as we get on island several times thru the year Such a sad loss was a favorite side trip to take newcomers to the island.

A few add ons Get out to "Magaritavilla" aka the Sand bar,

See Billy Joles beach shack on the beach west end of the Westin/Our Lucaya for lunch, try his fresh conch salad or catch of the day or just a burger

Do a Wine and cheese sunset cruise but don't pre pay just meet the boat at the dock Port Lucaya you cant miss them, and check out the passengers take a pass if its a mess of spring breakers as it can get ugly! a older group can be a fun time!

Not all the restaurants are good as they charge high prices and you can get sub par food, 27 years going to the Bahamas mostly Grand Bahama we have found out to bring a collapsible cooler upgrade room with mini fridge just a few bucks ,buy breakfast / lunch items at the local Grocery store only a mile out of lucaya as if your planing a early dive, restaurants are a bit slow in the A.M. and thats a good thing they are on Island time! We do picnic lunches on the all public Bahamian beaches -saves big money and Port Lucaya sports several USA Fast food places and others on Island are all good as USA just more $$$- Other wise many of the places the Locals eat at the fair of chicken and rice & peas is great!

For a special night out check out Luciano's over looking PortLucya but you need to make Reservations EARLY! a place that has not done us wrong for more than you can eat meals at a fair price has been Giovanni's Café

A trip to the East end can be fun as we do this as a day trip rent a car then hook up with a bone fisherman and do a whole day charter, with bone fishing, & shore lunch of fresh catch I like the bugs seem like the Bahamians have no season! diving the blue hole or as the Bahamians call them Boiling holes, one small blue hole can be done from the shore as as shore dive-more of a snorkel and as said just being out on a cay =your private island is a blast and to see no one all day but your friendly guide have a great trip the waters are now so warm,
enjoy!
Dive safe,
Brad

There are two great operators over there, Xanadu and Grand Bahama Scuba. You can't go wrong with either of them. Make sure that you go see plate reef. It's a little farther out and will cost extra, but is definitely a dive worth doing.

Thanks agian for all the great info eveyone. Now I just wish I had more time to spend but don't we all. I'll let you all know how the trip goes and post some pics when I get back. Happy Diving!

I'm headed to Freeport on Saturday. I'm using Xanadu for a reef day, a shark dive day, and UNEXSO for a Dolphin dive day. I'll post when I get back.

I'm in Our Lacaya right now and have been diving with Grand Bahama Scuba; I'd definitely recommend them. They're organized, punctual, courteous, helpful, passionate, and fun. Skip the bigger dive ops and go with Fred and Melinda @ Grand Bahama Scuba; you won't regret it.

There is a man called AJ. I forget the name of his business (Shamie or Fred could tell you how to contact him). He will take you and your significant other to a deserted Island, catch and prepare lunch and dinner for you, and leave you there for a few hours, or overnight :14:

He also does fishing trips.

I haven't done this. I'm always to busy diving!! :D
...a few hours or overnight...I assume you get to decide and it is not a surprise. That actually sounds like a blast. You have convinced me to go to GBI again.

I remember the time in the Bahamas when my wife and I were taken to a deserted island for and afternoon. Everything was sooooo nice...for about 45 minutes. Then the S.S. Rumpunch arrived with about 15 partiers. End of our deserted island.

I'm going to try Carribean divers good price will let everyone know. If anyone has any comments please let me know.
