That's an excellent suggestion. Since OP lives in Florida (I think) it might be worthwhile to see if there's a local org in FL that does similar work to the CA outfit linked to in those threads. Ghost fishing gear wreaks horrific damage all over the world. Helping a group that does grassroots, hands-on work to remove that ghost gear, you would really be able to see the immediate benefit of your donations at work.
