Owhiro bay is the next bay around to the west from Island bay. There aren't any dive shops in either of the bays as such. There is one in between Island and Owhiro bay and another on "the parade" in Island bay.

I don't have any experience of either of the dive boats operating from those two shops as have always gone off a mates boat when not shore diving. I have the impression that the dive shop boats are primarily hunting boats (Crayfish).

Someone else may have a better idea..

Splash Gordon Dive Specialists. They rock! (Disclaimer; I used to work for them)

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Plumb Bob for taking me out for my 1st cold water dive today at Rocky Point.

I now have a great respect for cold water shore divers. Walking down and through a rocky shore with a bunch of heavy kit on reminded me I need to get back in the gym :) Once there, I struggled a bit to get oriented and comfortable. Bob was incredibly patient and helpful. It really made things easier. Unfortunately, I'd sucked quite a bit of air down so it shorted the dive a bit. Out in the water, I started to get comfortable and my breathing slowed and was able to just enjoy the scenery. It was quite a different experience than the tropical almost-no-limit-vis diving I'm used to but was a blast.

Thanks so much for the help, the patience and for a great day. Can't wait to do it again in a couple of weeks.
