Winter storms have kept me out of the water for four weeks. It seems to be a repeat of 2016. Kevin Lee ditched work to join me for two dives before the next series of storms arrive Friday.

At Kevin's Reef we found the usual assortment of marine life in relatively poor visibility. We surfaced into swells and whitecaps so we raced back around the other side of Rocky Point to get out of the wind. Our second dive was at Golf Ball Reef where a miracle happened.

Kevin lost an obsidian slate here a long time ago. It could have been more than two years but we're not sure. Before we got in the water he said it would be nice to find it as it was a gift. I told him it was probably under three feet of sand by now. I headed south after reaching the bottom and saw his slate on the sand within the first minute of the dive. They are now reunited and it feels so good.
