Hey Gang,

I am a total outsider here with no diving experience. See details in "Intro's and Greets" here:

http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=126992

My basic question concerns a barrier island off the Mississippi Gulf that disappeared around 1934 called Dog Island aka Isle of Caprice. It was in the area now known as Dog Key Pass. This island actually had a casino and other structures built on it from the late 1920's to 1934, when by erosion or change in currents, it completely submerged.

The question is, what are the chances of anything such as artifacts or remains of the structures from 1934 still being there? Also, for anyone familiar with the area, if I were to go out in a boat right over the site, what would I see? I mean, is it deep enough to actually dive on, or is it just more like a sand bar?

Thanks all,

mk

Not much... Dog Island was nothing but a sandbar that did what sandbars do. Visibility in the area is zip squat nothin' too. But don't let any of that stop you... if there is anything there, you won't find it if you don't dive it :)
