Active small fishing fleet of small wooden boats in this bay and cleaning fish on the dock attract the turtles.

Does it seem to attract much else? I like sea turtles, but I keep seeing turtles, and turtles alone, mentioned as drawn to the scraps. I would've expected reef sharks (I take it there's a rare sight along the coast, like the west coast of Bonaire?) and/or moray eels (the 2 creatures that make lion fish hunting 'interesting' at times, from what I'm told). Frequent free food would seem to pull in other things before sea turtles, and yet...

On our honeymoon cruise, at a stop in Barbados we did a 'snorkeling with sea turtles' catamaran excursion and they lured in a pair of green sea turtles with bait, so it's not without precedent for turtles to be drawn in.

Richard.

It’s all sand bottom up near the dock where the fisherman throw the scraps. Nowhere for eels to hide. The reef is out quite aways.
Out to the reef and go west there is a statue of Neptune sitting that you can take a picture with.
Only shark I saw was a nurse shark and it was more over by Coral Estates.

Haven't seen reef sharks in Bon or Cur. I have seen a big green moray at both Playas Grandi and Kalki. Seahorses have been spotted in the shallows at Playa Grandi on the mooring lines for the small fishing boats but I have not as of yet. Lots a micro stuff in the shallows as well but if you are looking for sharks I am not sure either island is the place to go.

Where I've seen turtles, (Lagun, Trrunk Bay) was also a sandy bottom so no eels. In about 10 days of diving we caught a glimpse of what we thought was a shark once but it might've been a tarpon.

Lots of eels, the wall past the Tugnboat was alive with them. Also I did a dance with a big Moray near Habitat - he initiated it. On almost every dive we saw those little brown/white spotted eels hiding in holes.

That deep submersible looks really cool. Has anyone done it and does anyone want to do it?

Hi Fat Daddy,

I agree. It is a little pricey for me--but really cool.

I would love to learn about the system and the engineering behind the system. My major questions is: Is the submariner compartment pressurize?. If the compartment is pressurized, the engineering on the pressure hull would be less critical.

I am totally ignorant on DSRV design. I know nothing about how they work.

I'll bet a dollar that Dish knows...

It has a pressure hull and operates at 1 atm... so no issues with diving or flying after. 3/4” steel for the hull and 2 inch Lexan for the viewing port. The viewing port is what limits its depth to 1000 ft.

At $650 per person, it probably caters to those with a bit more disposable income than I.

I'm going to sign up soon if anyone wants to join me. You only live once.

Hi all, headed to Curacao for Xmas week and am being told by at least one dive op that can’t dive Superior Producer because “they are starting to build a hotel there so the entry is blocked.” True???
