I had a great trip to dive at Catalina on the Magician a week ago. My friends Larry, Kirk and I drove down to San Pedro for a 3 dive trip to Catalina. Our first dive at Goat Harbor was my 100th dive :D. It was an awesome dive with over 85 feet of visibility. The water was 70 on the surface and 64 at the bottom. We saw at least 5 Giant Sea Bass! What an amazing creature. I was able to get within 5 feet of two Giant Sea Bass. Definitely a dive that I won't forget.
Our second dive was at the Rock Quarry. We saw Moray eels, lots of Garibaldi, and an Octopus.
The last dive was at Little Geiger. While waiting for Kirk to get in the water, I saw an Angel Shark swimming along the bottom. Unfortunately I didn't see it again after we descended. We saw several Bat rays and lots of lobster. A really great day of diving.

Congratulations! Glad you had a super-duper, banner day of diving. Enviable!
Also, those are really good shots, sharp, nice and close. Thank you for posting.

I "think" that my 100th was at Catalina but I can't remember. My 200th was at Anacapa.

Anyway, I've been spoiled with the excellent viz at Catalina, San Clemente and Santa Barbara lately. Just went out this last Saturday to Santa Cruz and got hit with 10-ft viz and I was like, "What the hell?!!".

Congrats on your 100th ! I was out there on Friday, (Long Point, Red Rock, Empire), and vis was anywhere from 60 to 100, water was Ty D Bol blue. I along with a handful of other divers, had a "sighting of a lifetime", on one of our dives. I'm hesitant to report what it was, as to not alarm anyone.

I saw a Youtube video of the Landlord eating dinner off of Catalina. Might that be your encounter?

Good thing the water was warm. You did make your 100th dive nekkid, didn't you? :)
I guess it's a good thing I wasn't diving on the No Pressure that day. I would have definitely felt some pressure.

Hehehe, I did see that video in the past week or so. My/our encounter was at Long Point, about 1 minute/40 feet into out first dive of the day, and a "very mature" Carcharodon Carcharias (landlord) gave us a slow, brief & inquisitive "fly by". Never saw again that day. Was absolutely unbeleivable :)

Congratulations on making it to 100!

Big congrats on your 100th dive! The vis has just been incredible out there. Great pic's too!!

Congrats on the 100th dive here.

muzikbiz22, the landlord was probably heading towards the East End where menu items have much more fat on their bodies. Only time I've known one was close off Catalina it just gave us the eye and swam on towards the sea lion hauling grounds. Good thing I've lost some weight!
