These are my first pictures with my 5060, any comments, recommendations, suggestions etc. are greatly appreciated. I took some local diving pic’s here in So. Calif and while on our trip to Tahiti – Moorea Island. The setup I used was an Olympus C5060, PT-020, PFL-01, FL-20, PBL-01 Arm. I configured all the myMode personal settings for the different pics I wanted to take which seemed to work out pretty well other than the fact that the FL 20 is only good for macro pics with great vis.

Skyjunky:
What shutter speed and aperature were you using?

I was using 1/60 to 1/125 and f2.8 to f5.6 on most of the personal settings. At times I did need to change the shutter speed and aperture manually. I would use 1/60 and 1/100 for most of the still's and macro while using 1/125 for the moving stuff. My ISO was either 80 or 100. If you could tell what specific pics you are interested in I can post the meta data for those pics so you can see exactly what the camera was doing at the time of the pic.

Did you try any of your pics with the one touch white balance without the flash? and if so which ones.

No I sure did not use the one tocuh white balance. I keep on being told that I should try to adjust my white balance before a shot, I guess this will have to be next time.

Here is my first attempt with my cam using white balance. In the quarry i was in i woulnd't even think of takingg my film cam down but i was very impressed with this cam.

take a look and let me know if you have questions. This is without a flash just using white balance

Hi scubaaaronh,

Can you tell me what was the depth when you toke that picture ?

I'm using WB set for cool white fluorescent lamp (4200K) and I'm using the internal flash. I'm taking pictures between 11 and 16 meters. You can see the results in my members gallery. All the pics that I toke at Sagres, where in those conditions you see in the photo called "Green Water".

I’m not sure if I can adjust the white balance on my local dives as this is cold green water in So. Calif. This vis on a beach dive is at best 30ft and boat dives no more than 50-80ft. The majority of the pics I take locally use the internal / external flash. I’m going to look into purchasing a strobe but just not sure which one to go with.

the depths i was diving were between 25 to 45 feet. Dont use the flash when using white balance as you are adjusting the cameras colors to the ambiant light environment around you. I set the cam at A mode 5.6 iso 100 no flash in the accessories menu i changed it to the underwater housing mode. White balance was one touch white balance not the preset ones in the camera. You will need something white to aim the camera at when setting the white balance like a dive slate. go to menu then click left to WB then all the way down to the little square with two little triangles under - then point at something white till it fills the screen then press the ok button then ok all the way out. This is a setting you do at every few feeet difference like 10 feet 20 feet and 30 feet. again don't use the flash turn it off. i have some links that i will post to you when i get home tonight with settings for the cam. There is a lady named Dee on this board that helped me with all this and i will post all my questions and answers from her so you can review them also. I will try to get them on tonight. As far as cold water i am in Michigan our surface temp rarley gets over 68.

Good luck.

Look what a little touch of Photoshop can do to your pics.
