This month's issue of Diving Magazine refers to a tech diver's 2nd stage necklace as a being called a "suicide strap." Now why would they say this? :06:

stupidity and ignorance everybody knows that if you pull hard enough on a reg with a necklace, the necklace and reg will come apart.

Naw, you're being too harsh. I think what they mean is it's suicide if you can't find your second stage because it's not around your neck

Is that Rodale's magazine or a different publication?

Oh... I dunno. Maybe not, but Rodale's just ran an article about tech that was also full of questionable info.

I'd be interested in seeing a copy of the article. Can anyone tell us/me EXACTLY what magazine and/or post a link?

What's "funny" about that reference is that years ago there were many single-hose regs that came with a snap-on necklace. No kidding. I had (wish I still had it) a Nemrod in the mid 1970s that had a necklace.

Matter of fact I think I've seen a picture of the (in)famous Brett Gilliam wearing an old rig with the necklace.
