Padding isn't going to help anything..........unless you just have a bruise or something.

Have you ever dived with a Ranger or Stiletto with the lumbar pad inserted?

I had back surgery several years ago.. After trying several BC's in the pool.. the Seaquest pro felt most comfortable with the scar tissue. I don't think the BC itself provides a great deal of support.. It's important the BC is properly fit.. and to use care from the time you get geared until you're underwater and getting out of the water & ungeared. The Lumbar support adds bulk to the BC.. and I moving back to a BP/W this season.. For your back.. core strength training and core & leg flexibility will go a long way to protecting your back...

I have a "Scout" with a lumbar pad. The pad is worthless. I mean, it has no merit.
