I'm writing a research paper on the diving response. I don't know much about it except that when a person dives or in our case puts their face in cool water their heart rate drops. Anyone who can give me any history or knows of any place to find more information about the diving response it would be greatly appreciated. If not, I wish you all happy and safe diving!

I'd start with Guyton's Medical Physiology, then Diving Medicine by Bove and Davis. Scubadoc's website may have a section on this- it's certainly encyclopedic in other respects and a good source of diving medicine info; <http://scuba-doc.com >
These are common texts and sites to look.
Good luck.
