Crum,

If your handy make your own housing. check out http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=101940

I may be wrong but I think they did away with the wired remote jack on the GS500 so you may want to try and find one of the GS400, 250, or 150 from last year.

If you have not been here check it out. http://www.pana3ccduser.com/ they even have some schematics for the wire remote on there.

Im working on a DIY housing for my GS150 with lights, external monitor, and electronic controls. But the way things are going it looks like it will be on the back burner for a while.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, very new to video. But without the wired remote jack is there no external controls, is this a true statement?.

As far a I know with out the wired remote jack there is no way to control the camera with electronic controls. Mechanical controls you could still do.

On the PC1000 there is no way to do manual white balance without using the touch screen (almost impossible in a housing).

The Ikelite Housing (No. 6037.87) allows you to do this with some clever little mechanical levers which can be swung out of the way afterwoods (so you can carry on using the screen as a monitor) Unfortunatley you cannot access ALL the screen with these levers so you have to shuffle the camera functions around on the screen in order to reach the ones you want when it's in the housing. I've a suspicion that this is an oversight by Ikelight but it's not really a problem.
You can also dedicate the WB control to the camwheel on the side of the camera and this contol has it's own dedicated mechanical lever on the housing so adjusting WB can be very easy.
