Other than that.. check out your local shop.. hang around a bit.. people will show up.. and you will be able to get a feel for them *BEFORE* you are trusting your life to them (*well.. your life is in YOUR hands.. they are just a back up incase you fubar)

Check out your LDS. Or just go diving. Sometimes I go diving when my buddies can't, so I just buddy up with someone on the boat. Even if there's an odd number of people. There's nothing that says you can't go as a threesome. And you will probably find some people you will get to know along the way. Just go diving and ask. Most recreational divers...not all...but most will be happy to have you buddy up with them...
