I just don't log dives
Hey there,

This is my first post after checking out ScubaBoard for about a month. My fiancee and I are finishing up our certification (OW dives) the first week of August (PADI/ Undersea Divers, Beverly). We're hoping that some experienced divers in the area (Swampscott, Nahant, Beverly, Rockport, Gloucester...) wouldn't mind us tagging along on some shore dives in the near future.

I'm hoping to dive on August 16th and 23rd (both Fridays which I have off) so if anyone is willing to let us join up, it would be much appreciated. I'd be happy to reward you with a 6-pack or something.

Thanks!

Jeb

Welcome to Scubaboard!

There is plenty of good diving to be had in the area. Since you're taking a class with Undersea Divers the dive society is a good way to become familiar with the local sites. If I can remember it's $50 for life and you get a free fill when diving with the society.

I do believe that I'm free on the 23rd, shoot me a PM or post here as the date approaches. If you're active on FB there is an active group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/186242878060341/) and people are always posting looking for buddies.

There is a good book out that lists a number of sites and you can get it at most of the shops or on Amazon. Diving Cape Ann and Boston's North Shore: Donald W. Whitehead: 9780971036611: Amazon.com: Books

Hope you see you out there!

Wow! Thanks so much for the great reply, Lewis. I'll shoot you a note when we get closer. I'll also check out the FB group and consider the Dive society. Can't wait!

Hi Jeb,

Similar to what Lewis has said = many area shops/clubs (including Undersea Divers - great shop!) have weekend group dives led by a divemaster. Pretty much every weekend day between June and Sept. there is a group going out in the morning. East Coast Divers, Mass Diving, the NE Aquarium dive club, Metrowest dive club, North Shore frogmen.....many, many options. Some are free; some require a small "tip" for the DM. This is how I started back in 2000...with DMs providing helpful briefings on parking, site orientation, etc., etc.

Chris

Since you live on the North Shore if check out the local club, North Shore Frogmen. They dive regularly and are always welcoming new divers. They meet on Thursdays at the Palmers Cove Yacht Club in Salem.
