I just purchased 4 Edge Escape and exp regulator sets. 1 breathes really noisy on the surface and 2 have some noise that seems to be coming as air passes through the hose....almost sounds like a leaking hose, but it's not. First dive is tomorrow, what makes some breath noisy and some not? All breathe as well as any regulator I have used. Also, no manuals in the boxes. Should there have been? Ordered Monday, had them in hand on Friday Moring. Great service from DRIS.
thanks in advance for your response.

not really sure how much you would need for user manuals but they are here

http://www.edge-gear.com/Assets/file/EDGE HOG REGULATOR OWNERS MANUAL 12262013.pdf

saves a lot of paper since most people never bother to open them

Does it sound like a bullfrog? Might just be they are dry and haven't lubed themselves up yet. Quite a few of the diaphragms on all regs will be chattery when they are dry. You obviously have a tank, so just pressurize and let them soak in the bathtub for an hour or so then try breathing them, they should quiet down.
