LOL Okay, glad to see I'm not the only one who gets excited about getting new (to me) gear (even if it was old gear to someone else). I'll actually admit to getting my (previously owned) Zeagle Ranger shipped to me here in Iraq (ostensibly so I could make sure it was in good condition... truth be told, I just wanted to play with it, even on dry land... LOL). And yes, I tried it on. Quite comfortable, in fact, even as I did the happy dance in my CHU (that's "containerized housing unit", i.e.- trailer with three rooms and six people in it, for those who haven't deployed before).

I have some bad news for you: By choosing to dive in a horrid, evil 'poodle jacket' you have almost certainly signed your own death warrant. It's simply not possible to dive safely or efficiently in one. And if by some miracle of fate you survive diving without a back-inflate or BPW you will unfortunately have such a terrible time that you will be put off diving for life.

My commiserations.

I hope this guy forgot the sarcasm tag. You can be perfectly safe and efficient wearing a jacket BC for all recreational diving. The diver's preparedness and attitude towards safety are paramount.

What matters is that the gear fits you well and you're comfortable with it in the water. Don't buy into the hype on scubaboard. The two worst divers I've ever encountered were wearing a complete Halcyon hog setup.
