Indeed, there was a Swedish/Norwegian movie, Breaking Surface, with a very similar plot and with more stunning visual scenery. I think I would rather see that one!

This is the English language remake. The writer/director of the Norwegian version, Joachim Hedén, is credited as a writer on The Dive.

Not sure about a dubbed version, but it has English subtitles.
