I recently have become interested in spear fishing and I was wonder what to do to get started and where? I live in North Jersey. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest trying to find a local diving club that spearfishes. Using a speargun increases task loading and the amount of gear you have to carry especially with the low number of dives you have. It can be a little overwhelming at first.

Do say more about your diving exp off nj that will open up more discussion on how to proceed. I finally bought a pole spear this year after two solid seasons off the coast
