Anyone doing the Catalina thing for New Year's? I'll be there Dec 30 - Jan 1 and will be looking for a buddy to do Casino Point.

Additional FYI - The Casino is having a really cool sounding New Year's Eve dinner and party. Lots of music, good food and dancing!

Sooooo....Anyone diving Casino Point those days and need a buddy? :)

Good idea, never thought of that..........

I'll be on the Vision on the nothern islands :)

Lexy- There is a good chance my buddy Xiaoyan and I will be diving at the Park during that time. I'll have to let you know as the date approaches.

Will be out of town until at least the 15th. Just received an invite to go on a research trip to Guadelupe Island to dive with and film the resident population of great whites there (caged of course).

You don't see caged GWS in too many other parts of the world, I imagine.

Thanks for the quick response back Dr. Bill. Hopefully I'll get a chance to say howdy to you and your buddy.

So back to New Year's Eve in Catalina... I have additional info to share. There's going to be a Gala at the Casino. Dinner, dancing and balloon drop at midnight. The Catalina Chamber of Commerce still has Gala tickets but they anticipate selling out by the end of this week. The Chamber of Commerce phone: 310-510-1520.

This and the Queen Mary sound like a couple of really fun places to celebrate New Year's Eve.

I will be spending a quiet New Year's Eve this year, but maybe next year! :crafty:

Keep in mind that hotel rooms are often sold out on New Year's Eve in Catalina. I'm amazed the dance isn't... tickets are often gone by Labor Day.

Ken... very funny, caged GWS. Just wait until you see the footage I bring back.

Anyone gonna be diving in Catalina between Dec. 30 thru Jan 2? Thought I would check since it's getting closer........

I might be up for it, but I think that something is telling me that there will be nowhere to stay. If I can find an open hotel, I'll be there for sure.
